THE HISTORY BEHIND THE DESIGN

VF-24 began transitioning from the F-8J Crusader to the F-14A Tomcat in December 1975, opening a new chapter in the squadron’s carrier aviation history.

The squadron’s Tomcat service included deployments aboard USS Constellation. Aircraft records preserved by the Pacific Coast Air Museum document a VF-24 F-14 deployment aboard the carrier from October 20, 1981, through May 23, 1982.

This design celebrates that connection between the Fighting Renegades, the Tomcat, and Constellation—and honors the aircrews, maintainers, and ship’s company behind those deployments.
